Shay Lia crafts her latest reggae-pop tune around a sample of Junior Senior’s ‘Move Your Feet’. This track, the lead single from her impressive SOLARIS EP, shines new light on the 2002 classic; rather than the in-your-face piece of pop music you’re used to, the evergreen chords from the start of the track become a quiet hook relegated to the middle distance of ‘Irrational’. This turns this playful tune into something original, worthy of merit in its own right. Smooth beats combine with a well-crafted texture and a luscious lead vocal to form a worthy follow up to Lia’s Michelle Obama-tipped previous track, ‘Good Together’. She explains that the EP as a whole is “a state of mind. It’s where the sun shines brightest.
